Is it safe to charge an electric car in the rain?

Yes, of course. The engineers of automobile and charging modules manufacturers made charging plugs perfectly safe for every situation of bad weather by folding it off with protective layers. This has made charging in the rain safer and a lot more confident while tackling bad weather.

But even if the car and the EV charging stations have basic safety and waterproof protection functions, it is best to check the charging stations and the car charging interface before charging.

First, check whether the charging gun is wet by rain, whether there is water or debris in the gun, and wipe the inside of the gun head clean before use.

Secondly, pay attention to prevent rainwater from splashing into the plug head when pulling the plug out of the charging stations, and make sure the plug faces downwards when moving; when the charging plug is inserted or pulled out from the car charging socket, a rain cover must be used to prevent rainwater from splashing in Charge.

Third, when the charging plug is pulled out from the car after charging, the cover of the charging port of the car should be covered immediately.
